India Airlines market share and Domestic Air Traffic February 2015
The month of February 2015 saw 60.16 lakhs (6.02 Mn) domestic passengers flying through the scheduled domestic airlines, growing 21.63% from February 2014, according to DGCA released data. With this, the first two months January and February of 2015 saw domestic airlines carrying 122.61 Lakhs (12.26 Mn) passengers which grew by 21.48% over the same period of 2014.
Air India carried 22.33 Lakhs (2.23 Mn) passengers during the first two months of 2015 growing 12.72% from the same period in 2014. The eight private carriers carried a total of 100.28 Lakhs (10.03 Mn) with a growth of 23.62% over 81.12 Lakhs (8.11 Mn) passengers flown over the same period last year. For the month of February 2015, the private carriers flew 49.48 Lakhs (4.95 Mn) passengers, a share of 82.2% of total domestic passengers, while Air India had a share of 17.8%, carrying 10.68 Lakhs (1.68 Mn) passengers.
IndiGo carried 22.31 Lakhs (2.23 Mn) passengers leading with 37.1% market share. Jet Airways flew 11.89 Lakhs (1.19 Mn) passengers with 19.8% market share. Air India with a market share of 17.8% carried 10.68 Lakhs (1.07 Mn) passengers. Spice Jet carrying 5.53 Lakhs (0.55 Mn) passengers had a market share of 9.2%.
GoAir with an 8.9% market share flew 5.35 Lakhs (0.53 Mn) passenger during February 2015. Jet Lite flying 2.73 Lakhs (0.27 Mn) of passengers secured market share of 4.5%. Air Asia flew 0.72 Lakhs (0.07 Mn) passengers with 1.2% share; Air Costa flew 0.62 Lakhs (0.06 Mn) passengers with 1.0% market share; while Vistara carried just 0.33 Lakhs (0.03 Mn) passengers having a market share of just 0.5%.
