Indian Automobile Industry News November 2015
The Indian automobile industry could only manage a 3.18% domestic sales growth in November 2015 while production and exports were on a decline, according to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) released figures. The Passenger vehicles segment showed 11.40% growth, highest among all segments of the Indian automobile industry. Automobile production declined by 9.76% for the current month while exports registered a decline of 17.61%.

Indian Passenger Vehicles segment registered the highest segment wise growth of 11.40% for the month of November 2015. Passenger Cars registered a growth of 10.39% in the category. Utility Vehicles grew by 19.65% while sales of Vans declined by 0.69%.

Commercial Vehicles growth came down to 8.56% in November 2015 from the last month. The Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCVs) sub-segment managed an impressive growth at 24.75% with Passenger Carriers sales growing at 22.76% and Goods Carriers growing at 24.98%. Sales of Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs) segment was very moderate at 0.26% with Passenger Carriers sales growing at 8.18% while Goods Carriers sales declining by 0.37%.

Three wheelers strengthened their sales from last month and grew at 8.33%. Sales of Passenger Carriers registered a growth of 13.52% while Goods Carriers sales declined by 10.40%.

Sales of Two Wheelers registered a moderate growth of 1.47% in November 2015. Scooters sales grew by 2.45% with Motorcycles managing a sales growth of only 1.58%. Mopeds sales declined by 6.16% in the month of November 2015.

Automobile exports continued displayed carried forward its negative growth in November 2015 from last month with exports declining by 17.13%. The decline was present across all segments of Indian automobile industry. Passenger vehicles exports declined by 21.83% with utility vehicles being the only sub-segment registering a growth of 51.99%. Exports of commercial vehicles declined by 2.88% with exports of M&HCVs declining by 11.85% while LCVs registering a growth of 2.37% in exports. Exports of three wheelers and two wheelers declined respectively by 34.74% and 17.13%.
